City of Overland Park, Columbia College partner to provide discounted educational opportunities for city employees

COLUMBIA, Missouri (June 29, 2020) – Columbia College and the City of Overland Park, Kansas, recently announced a partnership that would assist all 1,350 of the cities employees to pursue their degree at a discounted tuition rate.

“The opportunity to partner with a city of the caliber of Overland Park is something we take great pride in,” said Kelsey Anderson, Assistant Director of Partnerships for Columbia College. “Providing the city’s employees the opportunity to continue their educational pursuits and change their lives is something the college is truly passionate about.”

Columbia College offers six class sessions lasting eight weeks each, allowing students to complete their degree quickly. Students can earn an associate degree in 20 months, a bachelor’s degree in 3.5 years, and a master’s degree in just 12 months. The college is very transfer-friendly, which may allow a student to graduate even earlier if they have previously attended an accredited college or university.

“The City of Overland Park is excited to partner with Columbia College to provide discounted tuition rates to city employees,” said Mitchell Walker, Senior Training and Development Specialist for the city.

Students who take classes online or at one of the college’s locations nationwide (including four locations in the state of Illinois) will also have access to the Truition(r) program, which offers a transparent look at the cost of college by eliminating all fees and providing books at no cost.
