Des Moines, Iowa, July 5, 2011 - The NAMI IOWA (National Alliance on Mental Illness - Iowa) Executive Board announced today the appointment of Nancy Hale as the new Executive Director, effective July 18.

Mental Illness Awareness Week - Mental Illness Strikes One in Five Families Nationwide
Des Moines—October 5-11, 2008 is national Mental Illness Awareness Week (MIAW). Sponsored by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and established by Congress in 1990, MIAW takes place the first week of October each year, and recognizes NAMI’s efforts to raise mental illness awareness through outreach programs, promote early detection and accurate diagnosis of, and reduce the stigma associated with mental illness.
