Poplar Grove native receives Presidential Scholarship from George Williams College of Aurora University

WILLIAMS BAY, Wis. (July 30, 2021) – Hannah Schlanger, of Poplar Grove, Ill., has been named a Presidential Scholar at George Williams College of Aurora University (GWC). Schlanger is one of this year’s two recipients of the prestigious four-year, full-tuition scholarship, which was established for first-time freshmen who earned a minimum high school grade point average of 3.00.

A recent graduate of North Boone High School, Schlanger will major in nursing at GWC beginning in the fall 2021 semester. GWC’s innovative nursing program features state-of-the-art nursing skills and simulation labs to provide students and faculty with cutting-edge learning and teaching environments. Operating in conjunction with Aurora University’s longtime nursing program in Aurora, Ill., the program seeks to fill a rising demand for highly qualified nurses in the region.

“Not only does this scholarship provide me with financial support, but it shows me I can do anything through hard work and dedication,” said Schlanger. “The nursing simulation labs at GWC are beyond anything I had seen at other universities, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to learn in them.”

Schlanger was chosen to receive the competitive scholarship based on the strength of her academic accomplishments, a detailed application, an interview, and an essay.

“We are excited that Hannah chose George Williams College and believe she will find our nursing program will prepare her for a challenging and rewarding career in nursing,” said Kate Herrick, GWC’s vice president for academics and student life. “GWC prepares nurses in a dynamic and beautiful setting, and our graduates have high success rates on the NCLEX and in job placement. We are thrilled to help Hannah and other interested nurses prepare for the future of healthcare at an unprecedented time in history.”
