Home State Bank Celebrates Great Achievements
Jefferson, IA (August 31, 2022) – Home State Bank in Jefferson, Iowa is celebrating some tremendous achievements recently awarded to some staff members.
In July, Home State Bank’s CEO and Chairman of the Board, Sid Jones, received the prestigious 2022 Robert D. Dixon Founders’ Award at the Community Bankers of Iowa annual Management Conference and Annual Convention in Okoboji, Iowa. This award was established in 2003, by Community Bankers of Iowa (then Iowa Independent Bankers) the Robert D. Dixon award recognizes bankers who have shown commitment, dedication, and relentless devotion to community banking.
Current Bank President, Bob Allen, states, “Sid Jones has been a leader in community banking for the state of Iowa for over 40 years. His commitment and dedication will serve lasting benefits to the community and his involvement in both large and small economic development projects have not gone unnoticed.”
In addition to Sid Jones’ prestigious award, two members of Home State Bank, President Bob Allen and Senior Vice President and Chief Credit Officer Adam Heun, have completed their coursework at the premier community banking school, the Graduate School of Banking at Colorado, with Adam graduating in the top 10% of the class of 160 students.

Founded in October 1, 1934, by Warren Garst, Home State Bank is known as an agricultural bank. Garst made the first installment tractor loan in Greene County, encouraged improved quality livestock through better sire selection and gave away tons of fertilizer to promote its use long before people recognized its potential value. The bank is currently owned by a multi-bank holding company comprised of Warren’s grandchildren. Home State Bank currently employs 49 people and serves customers in 43 states from their main branch located in Jefferson and a second, currently in Ankeny.
