Julia Wilson named director at Columbia College-Mesquite

COLUMBIA, Missouri (November 24, 2021) – Columbia College Senior Regional Director Jeannie Simmons recently appointed Julia Wilson director of the college’s location in Mesquite, Texas. In her role, Wilson is charged with cultivating the location’s presence in the community while also overseeing its day-to-day operations, including faculty recruitment and class scheduling.

“Julia has been with the college for nearly two years and consistently strives to get its brand out in Dallas College and its seven respective locations,” said Simmons. “Her connection with the DCCD has deepened our overall relationship with them. She embraced the new wave of remote learning and effectively worked with faculty and students to make the transition a smooth one. I look forward to watching her continued growth at CC-Mesquite.”

Wilson has more than 27 years of collective leadership and supervisory experience in higher education and community-based organizations. Prior to joining Columbia College, she served multiple college deanship roles, including the program director of Career and Continuing Education at Dallas College. In her current role at Columbia College, Wilson also serves on the Diversity, Equity Inclusion Committee.

Wilson has also held numerous higher education administration roles, including dean of academic affairs at ITT Technical Institute, executive dean of Career & Technical Education at Dallas College, and dean of human resources and workforce development at Trocaire College.

“I’m very honored to have been afforded this position and I’m dedicated to the college’s continuing offering of quality and affordable degree programs,” said Wilson. “I’m excited to continue implementing a plethora of marketing and advertisement strategies and cultivating relationships with key Dallas College stakeholders to increase our location’s student population. Each of our students’ lives are greatly enhanced by achieving higher education.”

Wilson earned a Master of Science in Multidisciplinary Studies from Buffalo State College in 2000, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Canisius College. Additionally, she’s actively pursuing a Master of Science in Psychology from Grand Canyon University and Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership from Trident University.
