Iowa Egg Council Decorated Egg Display at the Norelius Community Library in Denison

(March 3, 2010) - Denison's Norelius Community Library is host to the Iowa Egg Council's Iowa Egg Decorating Contest participants through Wednesday, March 31. Each year the Iowa Egg Council sponsors the Iowa Egg Decorating Contest held at the Homemakers Theater at the Iowa State Fair. The decorated egg entries are then displayed at participating Iowa libraries throughout the year.

The eleven beautifully decorated eggs are the creations of various Iowa artists. Eggs were entered in the Iowa Egg Decorating Contest, held during the 2009 Iowa State Fair. This contest invites Iowa artists to decorate an egg that depicts a special feature, theme, icon or location in/of Iowa.

Marjorie Nedjl of Ely received a $500 cash prize for her winning egg titled, "2008-Year of the Flood." Second place honors went to Marion Smith of Eagle Grove with her egg, "The Four Seasons of Iowa" and Sandra Weitzel of Early won third place with "American Gothegg."
