High School Seniors Named Minnesota Finalists For The Art Institutes and Americans for the Arts Poster Design Competition 2010
MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA (March 9, 2010) - Can you imagine a world that lacks colors, lines, textures or art? Art has the power to evoke a wide range of emotions that connect people, which is why "life is better with art in it." This three-phase competition was designed to showcase the best high school talent in the field of graphic design through local and national competitions. The local competition will held at The Art Institutes International Minnesota.
In partnership with the not-for-profit organization Americans for the Arts, The Art Institutes annual Poster Design Competition is an opportunity for talented young artists at the high school level to study graphic design and earn a full tuition scholarship to one of The Art Institutes schools.
The competition at The Art Institutes International Minnesota was open to high school seniors in the U.S., Canada (excluding Quebec), and Puerto Rico. Students were asked to create original poster artwork that expresses the slogan, "Life is Better With Art In It."
The local finalists for this competition include Jocelyn Blomquist of Princeton, Minnesota; Katherine Bosworth of River Falls, Wisconsin; Romero Ceja of Elk River, Minnesota; Aaron Christianson of Hastings, Minnesota; Nicholas Diesslin of Maplewood, Minnesota; Margaret Duand of Stillwater, Minnesota; Jaclyn Gese of Woodbury, Minnesota; Holly Hapka of Andover, Minnesota; Nathan Humenik of Burnsville, Minnesota; Edmund (Eddy) Hurlebaus of Owen, Wisconsin; Kimberly Hyatt of LaPorte, Minnesota; Katie Joachim of Farmington, Minnesota; Sia Lor of Green Bay, Wisconsin; Matt Meyer of Nevis, Minnesota; Thaweesak Mingkwan of Columbia Heights, Minnesota; Chelsea Moore of Newport, Minnesota; Benjamin Muller of Pella, Iowa; Thomas Myers of New Hope, Minnesota; Grace Scofield of Clayton, North Carolina; Kimberly Simpkins of Rogers, Minnesota; Kayla Sprague of Grand Forks, North Dakota; Merphy Syphokham of Luverne, Minnesota; Megan Thornton of Kewaskum, Wisconsin and Benjamin Wagner of Jesup, Iowa.
Judging at the local level will take place by March 26, 2010. The first-place winner from the local competition will have their entry placed into consideration for the final stage and national judging. National winners will be notified by May 21, 2010. In all, The Art Institutes will award over $150,000 in tuition scholarships.
