EDUCATION CELEBRATION TO FEATURE LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR KIM REYNOLDS

EVENT: MARCH 1, 2011 - IOWA STATE CAPITOL, DES MOINES

DES MOINES (February 16, 2011) - On Tuesday, March 1, 2011, the Iowa Alliance for Choice in Education and Iowa Advocates for Choice in Education will host the annual Education Celebration at the Iowa State Capitol.

Lieutenant Governor Kim Reynolds will be the keynote speaker at a school choice rally at noon in the first floor rotunda. Lt. Governor Reynolds will speak about school choice initiatives and educational options in Iowa. A large number of state legislators will also be in attendance.

Parents, students, and administrators from nonpublic schools will be visiting with legislators between 10am and 4pm that day to talk to them about the benefits of the Educational Opportunities Act (STO Tax Credit program), and the importance of providing all parents equal opportunity to choose the best education for their children from the various options available in Iowa.

Over 10,000 low and middle-income children currently receive STO Tuition Grants to attend the accredited, nonpublic school of their choice and over 33,000 children are educated in Iowa's accredited, nonpublic schools.

Founded in 2005, Iowa Alliance for Choice in Education (Iowa ACE) is a nonprofit organization formed by advocates of nonpublic education to promote the expansion of school choice for the benefit of Iowa's children.
