Iowa Bankers Association announces 2012-13 leadership
JOHNSTON, Iowa (Sept. 17, 2012) – The Iowa Bankers Association (IBA) has elected new officers and directors to serve on its 2012-13 board of directors. The new leaders will assume their roles during the IBA’s annual convention, taking place Sept. 16-18 in Des Moines.
New officers are as follows:
Steve Goodenow, CEO and chairman of Bank Midwest in Spirit Lake, will be chairman of the board.
Tom Pohlman, president of Ames National Corp. in Ames, will be chairman-elect.
Ron Hansen, president and CEO of Liberty Trust & Savings Bank in Durant, will serve as past chairman of the board.
Joe Steil, president and CEO of KSB Bank in Keokuk, will begin his term as treasurer.
John Sorensen, president and CEO of the IBA, will continue to serve as secretary of the board.
Officers were nominated by the IBA board of directors and approved by IBA member banks from across the state. The IBA Executive Committee leads the board of directors, which is responsible for setting policy and overseeing the general operation of the IBA.
IBA member banks also have elected a number of new members to serve on the board of directors:
Kent Rutherford, president and CEO of Security Savings Bank in Eagle Grove;
Kevin Driscoll, president of Bridge Community Bank in Mount Vernon;
Tim Wolf, president and CEO of State Savings Bank in West Des Moines;
Bruce Kout, president & CEO of Farmers & Merchants Savings Bank in Iowa City;
Dean Jacobsen, president of Northwest Bank in Spencer; and
Mike Helak, regional president of U.S. Bank in Des Moines.
Continuing their terms as board members will be:
Michael Patrick, president and CEO of Liberty National Bank in Dakota Dunes, S.D.;
Roger Hansen, vice president of Bank Iowa in New Hampton;
Joshua Guttau, president and CFO of TS Bank in Treynor;
Joseph C. Topinka, executive vice president of Cedar Valley Bank & Trust in LaPorte City;
Jeff Burkhart, executive vice president of Farmers & Merchants Bank & Trust in Burlington;
Doug Horstmann, president and CEO of Dubuque Bank & Trust in Dubuque;
and Dave Nelson, CEO of West Bank in West Des Moines.
