Leadership Nebraska Opens Class VII Applications
LINCOLN - The State Chamber’s Leadership Nebraska program is looking for members of their next class. The application deadline for Class VII of Leadership Nebraska will be December 31, 2012.
Created by the Nebraska State Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Leadership Nebraska program builds a sense of statewide community by identifying and training individuals with a commitment to become personally engaged in issues, programs and activities aimed at better serving Nebraska
Leadership Nebraska is designed for persons who have demonstrated community and professional leadership. The program will offer six 1˝-days to 2-day sessions per year that would give class members an opportunity to develop and hone leadership skills and gain a broader understanding of issues facing Nebraska. “Class members all learn what makes the state tick,” said Tom Whalen, chairman of the State Chamber’s Leadership Nebraska Council. “This knowledge is invaluable for their careers and future community and state leadership endeavors.”
Sessions for the 2013-14 years will begin with an Orientation Retreat at Lied Lodge in May; the Economic Development bus tour across Nebraska in June; the Agriculture session in O’Neill in early August; the Health/Healthcare/Human Services session in mid-September; an Education session in Kearney in October; and a session on Public Service in Lincoln in late January, 2014. A commencement ceremony will be held in Lincoln in early February.
A statewide network of Leadership Nebraska alumni actively engages in finding solutions that will enhance Nebraska’s future growth and prosperity. Alumni of the program have the opportunity to conduct ongoing meetings and programs to strengthen relationships and to maintain and enhance the knowledge gained during their Leadership experience.
Applications are open to all Nebraska professionals. Tuition for the 2013 Class is $2,500. Meals and lodging are included, but participants are responsible for travel costs to the class site. Scholarships are available. The State Chamber’s Leadership Nebraska is a tax-deductible non-profit 501(c) (3) organization.
