LIVE HEALTHY IOWA KIDS ANNOUNCES FALL FITNESS DAY WINNERS
Live Healthy Iowa Kids awarded 5 schools for participating
AMES, Iowa - October 12, 2012 - Fall Fitness Day was held on October 3rd (or anytime between October 1-9th) in conjunction with the Healthiest State Walk and International Walk to School Day. Participation for this event sky-rocketed this year with 100,045 kids across the state who participating, nearly doubling last year's participation!
Fall Fitness Day was a free event for schools to participate in. Schools were asked to plan a 30 minute activity with their students such as participating in the Healthiest State Walk, fitness stations, dance or any physical activity. As long as the students were active for at least 30 consecutive minutes and the school reported 100% participation, the school would then be eligible for one of five awards offered by Live Healthy Iowa Kids.
The winners of the awards are:
$250 Scheels: Collins-Maxwell Elementary in Collins, Iowa
$250 Scheels: I.C. St. Joes in Raymond, Iowa
$250 Hopkins Sporting Goods, Inc.: St. Anthanasius in Jesup, Iowa
$250 Hopkins Sporting Goods, Inc.: Pleasant View Elementary School in Webster City, Iowa
$1,000 Cash Prize: Van Meter CSD in Van Meter, Iowa
"The benefit of participating in an event like this is so much greater than the possibility of winning an award; but more so the opportunity for kids to get active; it is great to see kids not only being active, but enjoying the activities they are involved in." said Lisa Weber, Live Healthy Iowa coordinator.
