Voting now open for Best of Rural Missouri Readers' Choice Contest

$500 gift basket to be awarded to one lucky entrant

Bragging rights are up for grabs for your favorite rural towns, businesses, eateries and other destinations in the 2013 Best of Rural Missouri Readers' Choice Contest.

For the past 12 years, Rural Missouri magazine has organized the contest to allow its readers the opportunity to vote for their favorites across the Show-Me State. This year's contest will again follow a statewide format selecting winners in 20 categories.

"Last year, we returned the contest to its roots by reinstating the statewide contest," said Rural Missouri Editor Jim McCarty. "The move proved popular - we received more votes than ever before - so we're sticking to what our readers like best."

Voting opened this month and ballots will be accepted through Jan. 4, 2013. To enter, visit www.ruralmissouri.coop/bestof.php where you may vote online or download a mail-in ballot.

This year's categories include Best Restaurant, Best Barbecue, Best Burger, Best Pie, Best Steak, Best Festival, Best Trail, Best State Park, Best Off-beat Attraction, Best Small-town Museum and Most Beautiful Town, among others. Those who return a ballot with votes in at least 10 categories will be eligible to win a Best of Missouri gift basket valued at $500. The drawing for the basket will be held Jan. 11, 2013.
