ACHIEVING A MORE PROFITABLE OPERATION: 2013 Mid-Iowa Cooperative Crop Fair
JOHNSTON, Iowa – Jan. 4, 2013 – The 2013 Mid-Iowa Cooperative Crop Fair has a program designed to help local growers deal with weather and markets, according to organizers with the Iowa Corn Growers Association (ICGA) and Iowa Corn Promotion Board (ICPB). The program will be January 24, 2013 at the Meskwaki Bingo Casino Hotel, Tama, Iowa. The program runs from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Featured presentations include Grain Fundamentals & Chart Technicals by Randy Mittelstaedt and Dave Toth of RJ O’Brien, Jeff Hamlin of Climate Corporation, Michael Swanson, Wells Fargo ag economist, an Iowa Corn Legislative Update by Mindy Larsen Poldberg of Iowa Corn and Eric Apel of the Mobile Weather Team.
“With our weather challenges last year and interest in the markets and legislative issues, this crop fair will provide area farmers with information that can really help their bottom line,”says Carrie Dodds, ICGA/ICPB Grower Service Representative.
Attendance at the crop fair includes a free lunch. Sponsors of the crop fair include:Mid-Iowa Cooperative, Curt Mackie Deklab/Asgrow Seeds, Matt Roach Monsanto Chemistry and the Iowa Corn Growers Association and the Iowa Corn Promotion Board.

The ICGA and ICPB work with local sponsors each winter to provide crop fairs across the state. The programs are intended to giveproducers free and direct access to timely information on issues facing Iowa agriculture. The ICPB directs the investment of Iowa corn checkoff funds to develop and defend markets, fund research, and provide education about corn and corn products. The ICGA is a membership organization, lobbying on agricultural issues on behalf of its 7,000 farmer/industry members.
