ASSN OF MO ELECTRIC CO-OPS
Associated Electric Cooperative announce recipe contest
Contest offers readers a chance to win up to $600 with their favorite recipes
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Summer is one of the best times to take control of your electric bill, and one of the best ways to do it is to prepare meals in a microwave instead of heating up an air-conditioned home by turning on the oven or range.
This year, Rural Missouri and Associated Electric Cooperative have teamed up to sponsor the “Keep It Cool” recipe contest. Amateur cooks who are members of Missouri ’s 48 electric cooperatives have a chance to showcase their culinary talents and win up to $600.
The contest, which was announced in the magazine’s February issue, features five categories — appetizer, side dish, salad (hot or cold), main dish and dessert. The only catch is if a recipe requires heating, you may only use the microwave for the cooking process.
The winning recipe in each category will receive $100 and a copy of “From The Heart of Rural Missouri,” a collection of recipes sent in by the magazine’s readers. One grand price of $500 will be awarded to the best overall recipe among the selected winners. Winning recipes will be published in the July issue of Rural Missouri.
“We’re excited to team up with Rural Missouri for this new contest,” said Dave Ramsey, energy efficiency manager for Associated Electric Cooperative in Springfield . “We’re excited to continue to get the word out about ways our members can save electricity.”
The contest is open to amateur cooks only. Entries must be postmarked by March 20, 2013, and mailed to Rural Missouri Recipe Contest, P.O. Box 1645 , Jefferson City , MO 65102 . Or you may enter online at www.ruralmissouri.coop/recipecontest.php. To be eligible, you must be a Missouri electric cooperative member.
