AREA STUDENTS RECEIVE KIRKWOOD SCHOLARSHIPS

Kirkwood Community College has announced scholarship awards for the upcoming academic year. The scholarships are administered by the Kirkwood Foundation and made possible through the generosity of individuals, companies and organizations who wish to invest in the future through Kirkwood student success.

The Foundation plans to award a record $2.4 million in donated and endowed support for approximately 1,300 students in the 2012-13 academic year.

Recent Kirkwood scholarship winners from this area include:

Winthrop:

* Megan Burns was awarded the Kirkwood General Endowment Scholarship in the amount of $500. Burns is the daughter of Dave and Lynn Burns and is a graduate of East Buchanan High School. This scholarship will support her studies in the Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
