IOWA DEPT OF REVENUE & FINANCE
WARREN COUNTY MAN CHARGED WITH TAX CRIMES
(Des Moines, Iowa) Jeffrey Albright of Norwalk, Iowa, was charged with four tax crimes on Wednesday, February 6, 2013. The charges were filed by Warren County Attorney John Criswell on behalf of the Iowa Department of Revenue.
According to the Complaint and Affidavit, Mr. Albright faces one count of Fraudulent Practice in the First Degree, a Class C Felony, for:
* Willfully failing to file returns at times required by law, and/or
* Willfully making false or fraudulent returns and/or
* Willfully failing to pay the tax at times required by law.
The amount of income tax evaded exceeding $10,000 for the tax years 2005, 2006, and 2007 combined.
In addition Mr. Albright is facing three counts of Income Tax Evasion, a Class D Felony, for willfully attempting to defeat or evade personal income tax, or the payment of personal income tax, for each of the tax years 2005, 2006, and 2007.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.
An initial court appearance has been scheduled for Mr. Albright on Friday, February 15, 2013, 8:30 a.m. at the Warren County Courthouse in Indianola, Iowa.
