IOWA CORN GROWERS ASSN.
ACHIEVING A MORE PROFITABLE OPERATION: 2013 CROP FAIR OFFERS MANAGEMENT INFORMATION
JOHNSTON, Iowa – March, 2013 – This winter’s Coon Rapids Crop Fair has a program designed to help local growers deal with the volatility in modern agriculture, according to organizers with the Iowa Corn Growers Association (ICGA) and Iowa Corn Promotion Board (ICPB). The program will be March 15, 2013 at the American Legion Hall, 419 Main Street in Coon Rapids, Iowa. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the program runs from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with complimentary lunch served at 12:00 p.m.
Featured presentations include “Handling Corn Root Worms” by Erin Hodgson, Entomologist with ISU; “Ag Weather Update” by Bryce Anderson, Meteorologist with DTN, “Grain Marketing Strategy” by Dan Greder and Steve Reece, Sciota Trading.
“With today’s market volatility and weather challenges, it is important to have up-to-date information,” says Bruce Gaarder, ICGA/ICPB district field manager. “The crop fair program should give local growers access to information that can really help their bottom line.”
Sponsors of the crop fair include: ISU Extension – Audubon, Guthrie and Carroll Counties, Iowa Corn Growers Association and Iowa Corn Promotion Board.
For questions or to RSVP by March 13th, contact Carroll County Extension Office, (712) 792-2364 or email juleeg@iastate.edu.
The ICGA and ICPB work with local sponsors each winter to provide crop fairs across the state. The programs are intended to give producers free and direct access to timely information on issues facing Iowa agriculture. A complete list of 2013 crop fairs is available on the Iowa Corn website at www.iowacorn.org.
