ACHIEVING A MORE PROFITABLE OPERATION: 2013 Crop Fair Offers Management Information
JOHNSTON, Iowa - March, 2013 - This winter's "Tools for the Future" Crop Fair has a program designed to help local growers deal with the volatility in modern agriculture, according to organizers with the Iowa Corn Growers Association (ICGA) and Iowa Corn Promotion Board (ICPB). The program will be March 22, 2013 at Elks Lodge, 701 South Fremont Street in Shenandoah, Iowa. The free program runs from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with complimentary lunch served at 12:00 p.m.
Featured presentations include "2013 Weather Outlook" by Bryce Anderson, Ag Meteorologist with DTN; "Iowa Nutrient Reduction Strategy" by Ben Gleason, Sustainable Program Manager with Iowa Corn, "Crop Management Concerns for 2013" by Aaron Saeugling, Field Agronomist with Iowa State University.
"With today's market volatility and weather challenges, it is important to have up-to-date information," says Janelle Kracht, ICGA/ICPB district field manager. "The crop fair program should give local growers access to information that can really help their bottom line."
Sponsors of the crop fair include: United Farmers Mercantile Cooperative, Green Plains, Freemont/Page County Corn and Soybean Association, Iowa Corn Growers Association and Iowa Corn Promotion Board.
For questions or to RSVP by March 18th, contact Janelle Kracht, District Field Manager with Iowa Corn at 515-229-9980.
The ICGA and ICPB work with local sponsors each winter to provide crop fairs across the state. The programs are intended to give producers free and direct access to timely information on issues facing Iowa agriculture. A complete list of 2013 crop fairs is available on the Iowa Corn website at www.iowacorn.org.
The ICPB directs the investment of Iowa corn checkoff funds to develop and defend markets, fund research, and provide education about corn and corn products. The ICGA is a membership organization, lobbying on agricultural issues on behalf of its over 7,000 farmer members.
