GREATER BURLINGTON RECEIVES TOP 30 NATIONAL AWARD

The Greater Burlington area received some due recognition this week. Site Selection Magazine's March 2013 issue, which hit mailboxes earlier this week, rated Greater Burlington 30th in the nation on its annual rankings of micropolitan statistical areas. The rankings are based upon economic development projects announced or completed during 2012.

Micropolitans are geographic centers with an urban population between 10,000 and 49,999 residents. There are nearly 600 micropolitans throughout the United States and more than a dozen in Iowa. Greater Burlington was the highest ranked micropolitan in Iowa and the surrounding states.

"Among communities our size, we were 30th in the nation for economic activity in the prior year," said Jason Hutcheson, President & CEO of the Greater Burlington Partnership."We have benefited from significant private sector investment over the past few years, and this is an opportunity to be nationally recognized for our economic rebound."

"This is certainly an honor for our community to be recognized, and we believe this strong economic momentum will continue in the foreseeable future," said Bryan Bross, board chair of the chamber of commerce and Vice President of Klingner & Associates.
