Over 12,000 Runners to GLOW in Des Moines
Des Moines, Iowa – Over twelve thousand runners will take to the streets of Des Moines in the GLOW RUN 5K on Saturday, April 20 beginning at 8:30 p.m. The run will start and finish at the Science Center of Iowa.
Runners will receive a GLOW in the dark finisher’s medal, GLOW in the dark T-shirt, GLOW items and entry to the post race street party. Along with the event prizes, hundreds of giveaways will be tossed out during the AFTERGLOW dance party.
Several GLOW Zones will be located around the course. GLOW Zones will have various light displays which runners will pass through. “The finish will include multiple light features,” said Kim Abels, Iowa Games Sports and Special Events Director. “Everything from black lights to strobe lights will be used.”
In lieu of the tragedy at the Boston Marathon this past Monday, all runners will receive a blue ribbon. Runners are encouraged to wear these ribbons in support of the tragedy. A moment of silence will take place prior to the race at 8:15 p.m. at the start area.
