Media Advisory UPDATE: TWO DUBUQUE SCHOOLS AWARDED $500 FROM LIVE HEALTHY IOWA KIDS
Students complete 10 Week Wellness Challenge
To the editor/s of Dubuque County:
Ames, IA – Two schools in Dubuque CSD were randomly selected to win cash prizes for participating and completing the 10 Week Wellness Challenge. Both schools, Bryant and Fulton Elementary, will be receiving $500 checks on Monday, May 6th during their Go the Distance Day events at Loras College Track at 9:00 and 12:00, respectively. Media is invited to attend the check presentations. Lisa Weber, coordinator of Live Healthy Iowa Kids will be presenting the check to the middle school.
During the 10 Week Wellness Challenge, Iowa’s youth tracked their physical activity minutes throughout the entire 10 weeks and also tracked 5 nutrition components during two week time periods. The nutrition components tracked were fruit servings, vegetable servings, ounces of milk, ounces of water and minutes of screen time.

Live Healthy Iowa Kids was created in 2004 as a program of the Iowa Sports Foundation and is endorsed by the Iowa Governor's Council on Physical Fitness & Nutrition. Live Healthy Iowa Kids’ youth initiatives are free programs encouraging Iowa’s youth to be more active and learn about healthy food choices in a positive, fun way. Since they began, more than 500,000 youth have participated in Live Healthy Iowa Kids/Governor’s Challenge, Go the Distance Day and Fall Fitness Day.
