Carroll Man Sentenced for Sales Tax Evasion

On September 16, 2013, Dan Goins, dba Kelly Coin Machines, of Carroll, Iowa, was sentenced in Carroll County on one count of Sales Tax Evasion for a willful attempt to evade Iowa sales tax. Tax evasion is a Class D Felony.

Goins was given a deferred sentence with 3 years' probation and was ordered to pay restitution to the Iowa Department of Revenue in the amount of $41,182.15.

This case was developed by the Investigative Audit Section of the Iowa Department of Revenue and prosecuted by the Attorney General's office.

The mission of the Iowa Department of Revenue is to serve Iowans and support state government by collecting all taxes required by law, but no more.
