Challenge Your Family to Better Health
New Live Healthy Iowa challenge focuses on families
AMES, Iowa - September 23, 2013 - Live Healthy Iowa launched a new challenge Monday to provide families with tools and resources to establish lifelong healthy habits. The Healthy Families Challenge allows youth and adults to support one another in making active and nutritious choices that will last a lifetime. The new six-week challenge runs through November 1st with registration open until Oct. 7th at www.livehealthyiowa.org
Throughout the challenge Live Healthy Iowa will encourage families to try new fruits and vegetables, prepare meals together and participate in seasonal family activities. Families are challenged each week with a special healthy task and will win a Subway gift card if all six weeks are completed. Participants can also join Live Healthy Iowa's Healthy Families Challenge group on Facebook to share ideas and tips with others.
Participants receive a resource kit which includes a team packet, activity ball and a 2014 'Healthy & Homemade meals' calendar; fun weekly educational lessons; a team tracking page and access to healthy recipes and wellness information on Live Healthy Iowa's website. All families who complete the challenge have the chance to win prizes such as passes to an Iowa ski destination, a Des Moines family getaway and gift cards!
