Steve Crew Named Chair - Iowa Developmental Disabilities Council
Des Moines, Iowa September 25, 2013 Steve Crew of Des Moines, an administrative consultant with the Iowa Department of Education, was recently selected as the Chair of the Iowa Developmental Disabilities Council (DD Council).
Steve was interested in joining the DD Council because of his advocacy in the area of special education. In my current position as an administrative consultant with the Department of Education, my job is to provide guidance and assistance for school districts and Area Education Agencies around special education compliance and programming. Becoming a member of the Iowa Developmental Disabilities Council seemed like a logical next step in furthering my advocacy to a wider range of needs within our community.
The DD Council is a federally-funded state agency that advocates for the development of services and support so that Iowans with disabilities can make choices and take control of their lives.
As Chair of the DD Council Crew said, my goal is to provide leadership for the DD Council to assist our group in the identification of projects or activities designed to make a direct and identifiable impact on the lives of persons with developmental disabilities in the State of Iowa.
The Council promotes the development of a coordinated system of services and support that provides opportunities for people with developmental disabilities to be independent, productive, integrated and included in their communities. Council members and staff participate in forums, on committees, in work groups, develop written materials and responses, meet with legislators and collaborate with other organizations to create positive results for Iowans with disabilities.
For more information, contact the DD Council at (866) 432-2846 or send an email to email@example.com.
