IOWANS GET A MOVE ON
The Next Step challenge participants show dedication to team, fitness
AMES, Iowa - September 30, 2013 - Over the past three weeks, Iowans have tied their laces tight and clipped on their pedometers every day as they walk, jog, bike or just get moving! Regular physical activity helps to control weight, combat disease, energize our bodies, boost mood and much more. Live Healthy Iowa's The Next Step Challenge encourages Iowans to be physically active with the support of their team members and the opportunity to win prizes. The Next Step kicked off on September 9th with 4,390 Iowans on 724 teams who stepped up to the challenge.
Throughout the six-week challenge, each team member reports their weekly step total in friendly competition to move their team up the challenge leaderboard. Each participant receives an official Live Healthy Iowa pedometer; a weekly email containing activity tips; healthy recipes and fitness inspiration; access to a personal tracking page, healthy recipes and wellness information on the Live Healthy Iowa website; opportunities to win Subway gift cards, shoes, two tickets to an Iowa State football game, a $50 Hy-Vee gift card, a $25 Hy-Vee gift card and a $250 Scheels gift card!
The next opportunity to participate in a Live Healthy Iowa challenge is the '10 Week Wellness Challenge' beginning January 27th. Start the New Year off by challenging yourself and others to begin or continue to lead a healthy lifestyle. For extra support and motivation throughout the 10 Week Wellness Challenge, apply to be on the 2014 Dream Team! Dream Team members will be led by a fitness professional, receive nutrition education, a local gym membership, statewide support and more.
