Governor to Designate October as Disability Employment Awareness Month in Iowa
What: Iowa Governor Terry Branstad and representatives of Iowans with Disabilities in Action (ID Action), a program of the Iowa Developmental Disabilities Council (DD Council), will come together for a proclamation declaring October 2013 as Disability Employment Awareness Month in Iowa.
Why: Workplaces welcoming of the talents of all people, including people with disabilities, are a critical part of our efforts to build an inclusive community and strong economy. In this spirit, Iowa Governor Terry Branstad is recognizing National Disability Employment Awareness Month this October to raise awareness about disability employment issues and celebrate the many and varied contributions of people with disabilities. Activities during this month will reinforce the value and talent people with disabilities add to our workplaces and communities and affirm Iowa's commitment to an inclusive community.
