"Ice Fishing Has Arrived In the Midwest"

Mankato, Minnesota - When the temperature hits that magic mark, fishing seasons and fishing methods change in just days. Over the last several weeks a new season has begun with anglers chipping and drilling for ice fishing action across the Midwest. That is encouraging news not only for anglers and the ice fishing industry but also for Brad Hansen, developer of the Wisconsin Ice Fishing Show. The event will be held December 13, 14 and 15 at The Patriot Center in Rothschild, a suburb of Wausau, Wisconsin.

"Changing The Way Wisconsin Looks at Winter" is the focus of the Wisconsin Ice Fishing Show, an event for the lodging, tourism, transportation and ice fishing industry to showcase their products, services and information in Wisconsin.

"Everything one would need above the ice, under the ice and getting through the ice - including augers, electronics, tackle, tip-up/tip-down rigs, apparel and other accessories - will be on display and for carry-out sales throughout The Patriot Center," according to Hansen.

Each year the technological design, use of materials and manufacturing process are combined to develop some of the most advanced products for the fishing industry. This year's event will feature many of the newest and most innovative products from the industry including bobbers, lures, jigs, reels, rods, tip-up/tip-downs and more.

When it comes to fishing locations, lodging and tourism; or depending on your favorite species from Panfish to Whitefish, Northern Pike to Walleye, representatives from some of the leading destinations and tourism groups from Canada, Michigan, Minnesota, the Dakotas and Wisconsin will be available to address lodging needs. Of special interest will be an "On Ice Mobility Display" by Border View Lodge with their "Bomber" display. Bombers, short for Bombardiers, are vehicles used to transport fishing groups to a variety of remote destinations. This is a must see for anglers looking for the ultimate up-north-on-ice experience.

Solutions to moving on trails and ice are always an area of interest to anglers, outdoorsman and industries involved in winter mobility. A solution may be found by visiting the variety of manufacturers of track and traction options for ATV and UTV'S as well as accessories and equipment options for moving equipment to and from a person's favorite location at this event.

Last year's show was the first opportunity for many to see and learn about portable and permanent fish house options. This year the variety of fish house exhibitors has been expanded of those who will be displaying a variety of pop-up, wheeled and slider fish houses.

This event will also be one of the largest educational events in the Midwest for ice anglers. Eight top Midwest ice fishing pros will be presenting 17 seminars on location, tactics and equipment over the three days of the show. Speakers will include: Ben and Luke Blegen, Jeff Kelm, Joe Henry, John Andrew, Kurt Schultz, Capt. JJ Malvitz, Scott Allen and Aron Kastern.

Non-profit organizations play an important role in providing mentors in the outdoors for all generations. Several groups, including Midwest Extreme Outdoors, Hardwater Anglers, Veterans Outdoor World and others will be appearing at this event.

"Our goal is to produce a show that anglers in the Midwest will be eager to attend year after year. Whether you are an avid fisherman looking for a few new accessories, an experienced angler in need of an upgrade, or totally new to the ice fishing sport, you will find what you are looking for at this show," according Hansen.

"With Christmas just weeks away, we are anticipating anglers and outdoor enthusiasts to do a little personal and family shopping to fill their Christmas stockings. With this anticipation we will continue to use family-friendly admission rates to encourage family participation at this event," said Hansen. Admission will be $6.00 for adults, children 12 and under are free.

The Patriot Center in Rothschild, a suburb of Wausau, Wisconsin offers over 3,000 free parking spaces, is conveniently accessible from major highways and offers a variety of lodging options in the area for weekend visitors.
