ACHIEVING A MORE PROFITABLE OPERATION: 2014 Crop Fair Offers Management Information

JOHNSTON, Iowa – January 9, 2014 – This winter’s “Tools for Your Future” Crop Fair has a program designed to help local growers deal with the volatility in modern agriculture, according to organizers with the Iowa Corn Growers Association (ICGA) and Iowa Corn Promotion Board (ICPB). The program will be held January 29, 2014 at the Homeland Energy Solutions (ethanol office/lower level), 2779 Iowa Hwy 24, Lawler, Iowa. Registration begins at 9:30 AM with complimentary lunch being served at noon. An ethanol plant tour is being offered after lunch.

Featured presentations include: “Update Ethanol Update/Outlook” by Walt Wendland, CEO of Homeland Energy Solutions; “Crop Insurance Changes” by Kalen Jacobsen, Farm Credit Services of America; “Weather Outlook” by Mike McClellan, Mobile Weather Team, Inc. and “Grain Market Update” by Matt Campbell, Risk Management with FC Stone.

“With today’s market volatility and weather challenges, it is important to have up-to-date information,” says John Finley, ICGA/ICPB district field manager. “The crop fair program should give local growers access to information that can really help their bottom line.”

Sponsors of the crop fair include: Farm Credit Services of America, Five Star Co-op, Homeland Energy Solutions, Iowa Corn Growers Association and Iowa Corn Promotion Board.

For questions or to RSVP by January 24, 2014, contact Homeland Office at 563-238-5555 or Five Star Office at 641-394-3052.

The ICGA and ICPB work with local sponsors each winter to provide crop fairs across the state. The programs are intended to give producers free and direct access to timely information on issues facing Iowa agriculture. A complete list of 2014 crop fairs is available on the Iowa Corn website at www.iowacorn.org/cropfairs.
