2014 Crop Fair Offers Management Information
JOHNSTON, Iowa - January 16, 2014 - This winter's "Tools for Your Future" Crop Fair has a program designed to help local growers deal with the volatility in modern agriculture, according to organizers with the Iowa Corn Growers Association (ICGA) and Iowa Corn Promotion Board (ICPB). The program will be held February 6, 2014 at Johnson Restaurant, 916 High Street NE, Elkader, Iowa. Registration begins at 9:30 AM with complimentary lunch being served at noon.
Featured presentations include: "Weather for 2014" by Mike McClellan, Mobile Weather Team, Inc. and "Revenue Protection Decisions & New Crop Marketing Strategies" by Steve Johnson, ISU Extension and Farm & Ag Business Management Specialist.
"With today's market volatility and weather challenges, it is important to have up-to-date information," says John Finley, ICGA/ICPB district field manager. "The crop fair program should give local growers access to information that can really help their bottom line."
Sponsors of the crop fair include: Iowa Corn Growers Association, Iowa Corn Promotion Board and Clayton County Corn Grower Associate Members.
For questions or to RSVP by February 3, 2014 by contacting Joe Shirbroun at 563-964-2264 or John Finley at 515-782-4188.
The ICGA and ICPB work with local sponsors each winter to provide crop fairs across the state. The programs are intended to give producers free and direct access to timely information on issues facing Iowa agriculture.
