ICGA Applauds Iowa Legislature for Passing Resolutions to Support the Renewable Fuels Standard
January 16, 2014 – JOHNSTON, IA – The Iowa Corn Growers Association applauds the efforts of the Iowa Legislature for passing resolutions supporting the Renewable Fuels Standard (RFS). On Tuesday, during the Condition of the State Address, Gov. Terry Branstad called a bipartisan action to support the RFS.
Branstad and members of the Iowa Corn Growers Association are pleased the Iowa Legislature has joined to continue supporting a strong RFS. Branstad said, “I’m encouraged that the Legislature agrees that this rule proposed by the EPA would be devastating to the agriculture and renewable fuel sectors of the economy. Together, we’ll keep fighting to protect the RFS.”
“Decreasing the Renewable Volume Obligations (RVO) will cause an impact on local jobs, fuel prices, rural communities and farmers who work so hard to produce a product that fuels and feeds the world,” said Roger Zylstra, a farmer and current President of the Iowa Corn Growers Association.
The deadline to submit additional comments is January 28. The Iowa Corn Growers Association will be participating in the Hearing in the Heartland hosted by Governor Branstad on January 23 in Des Moines as well as working through local county associations to submit comments.
