Cover Crop Workshops Featured at the Iowa Power Farming Show
January 22, 2014 - JOHNSTON, IA - All you ever wanted to know about cover crops will be in one place next week. Whether you use cover crops or are still evaluating them, save time and money by attending the Cover Crop Workshops at this year's Iowa Power Farming Show, January 28-30, in Des Moines, Iowa.
The Workshops will feature grain and livestock farmers with on-farm cover crop experience, as well as other experts. Speakers will touch on how cover crops have impacted their farm including: reduced erosion and improved soil health, better nutrient management, enhanced water quality, multiple forage options, and ultimately improved profitability for farmers.
The workshops' speakers include Iowa farmers, as well as nationally recognized aerial-seeding expert Jamie Scott and high-clearance seeding veteran Matt VanTilburg. The noon session on all three days will feature grain marketing analyst Elaine Kub who will speak on "Optimizing Production Risk with Cover Crops Makes Managing Market Risk Easier."
Three concurrent one-hour sessions at the workshops will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday. Workshops are free with paid admission to the Iowa Power Farming Show.
