2014 Winter Iowa Games Trapshooting Comes to Harlan
AMES, Iowa - The 2014 Winter Iowa Games powered by the Iowa Food & Family Project will be holding its annual trapshooting event at Shelby County Trap & Skeet on Saturday, February 1. This event will serve as one of five regional events across the state. Interested athletes can register online until Monday, January 27 at www.iowagames.org or register the day of the event.
Individual shooters will have the opportunity to shoot in three events: 16 yard, handicap and doubles. Nine age divisions will be offered as well as two team trapshooting divisions.
The ATA (Amateur Trapshooting Association) division will be added to this year's event. Adult ATA registered shooters will be classified to shoot among other registered shooters and separate medals will be awarded.
The competition will consist of each participant shooting 1 round of 50 targets and that score will count for all events. Medals will be presented to the top three athletes in each division at this site and overall awards from all five sites will be mailed to participants following the competition. Other sites around the state include: Ackley, Ankeny, DeWitt and Dubuque.
Over the course of four weekends, the Winter Iowa Games will hold competitions for 23 sports in 15 different communities with over 4,300 athletes. The majority of sports will be held in Dubuque on January 24-26 and Cedar Rapids on February 8-9.
