JOHNSTON, Iowa - January 23, 2014 - This winter's "Tools for Your Future" Crop Fair has a program designed to help local growers deal with the volatility in modern agriculture, according to organizers with the Iowa Corn Growers Association (ICGA) and Iowa Corn Promotion Board (ICPB). The program will be held February 13, 2014 at Iowa Central Community College - East Campus, 2031 Quail Avenue, Fort Dodge, Iowa. Registration begins at 8:30 AM and the program runs from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM with complimentary lunch served at noon.
Featured presentations include: "Ag Market Update" by Sciota Trading, "Weather Outlook" by Elwynn Taylor, ISU Professor of Meteorology, Stover Project and Iowa Corn Research Update" by David Ertl, Ph.D., Technology Commercialization Manager at Iowa Corn, "Iowa Corn Growers State & Federal Legislative Update" by Jessi Hermsan, Government Relations Manager at Iowa Corn.
"With today's market volatility and weather challenges, it is important to have up-to-date information," says Carrie Dodds, ICGA/ICPB district field manager. "The crop fair program should give local growers access to information that can really help their bottom line."

The ICGA and ICPB work with local sponsors each winter to provide crop fairs across the state. The programs are intended to give producers free and direct access to timely information on issues facing Iowa agriculture. The ICPB directs the investment of Iowa corn checkoff funds to develop and defend markets, fund research, and provide education about corn and corn products. The ICGA is a membership organization, lobbying on agricultural issues on behalf of its over 7,600 farmer members.
