ACHIEVING A MORE PROFITABLE OPERATION: 2014 Crop Fair Offers Management Information in Council Bluffs Feb. 12
JOHNSTON, Iowa - January 27, 2014 - This winter's "Tools for Your Future" Crop Fair has a program designed to help local growers deal with the volatility in modern agriculture, according to organizers with the Iowa Corn Growers Association (ICGA) and Iowa Corn Promotion Board (ICPB). The program will be held February 12, 2014 at Iowa Western Community College, Reiver Room, First Floor of the Student Center, 2500 College Road, Council Bluffs, Iowa. Registration begins at 12:00 PM and the program runs from 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM with complimentary lunch served at noon.
Featured presentations include: "Department of Transportation - Rules & Regulations Update for 2014" by Officer Robinson;"Weather Outlook for 2014 Crop Year" by Elwynn Taylor, ISU Extension Climatologist; "ISU Research Farm Project Updates, Cover Crops and Palmer Ameranth" by Aaron Saeugling, ISU Extension Agronomist.
"With today's market volatility and weather challenges, it is important to have up-to-date information," says Janelle Kracht, ICGA/ICPB district field manager. "The crop fair program should give local growers access to information that can really help their bottom line."
Sponsors of the crop fair include: Iowa Corn Growers Association, Iowa Corn Promotion Board, Pioneer, ISU Extension and Crop Production Services.

The ICGA and ICPB work with local sponsors each winter to provide crop fairs across the state. The programs are intended to give producers free and direct access to timely information on issues facing Iowa agriculture. The ICPB directs the investment of Iowa corn checkoff funds to develop and defend markets, fund research, and provide education about corn and corn products. The ICGA is a membership organization, lobbying on agricultural issues on behalf of its over 7,600 farmer members.
