2014 Crop Fair Offers Management Information
JOHNSTON, Iowa – January 28, 2014 – This winter’s “Tools for Your Future” Crop Fair has a program designed to help local growers deal with the volatility in modern agriculture, according to organizers with the Iowa Corn Growers Association (ICGA) and Iowa Corn Promotion Board (ICPB). The program will be held February 18, 2014 at Leonard A Good Community Center, 114 SW 8th Street, Ogden, Iowa. Registration begins at 8:30 AM and the program runs from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM with complimentary lunch served at noon.
Featured presentations include: “Identifying and Controlling Palmer Amaranth and Close Relatives” by Bob Hartzler, ISU Extension, “Weather Outlook” by Craig Johnson, Executive Director at Iowa Academy of Science, ”Market Outlook” by Sciota Trading.
“With today’s market volatility and weather challenges, it is important to have up-to-date information,” says Carrie Dodds, ICGA/ICPB district field manager. “The crop fair program should give local growers access to information that can really help their bottom line.”
Sponsors of the crop fair include: Iowa Corn Growers Association, Iowa Corn Promotion Board, Crop Production Services and ISU Extension.

The ICGA and ICPB work with local sponsors each winter to provide crop fairs across the state. The programs are intended to give producers free and direct access to timely information on issues facing Iowa agriculture. The ICPB directs the investment of Iowa corn checkoff funds to develop and defend markets, fund research, and provide education about corn and corn products. The ICGA is a membership organization, lobbying on agricultural issues on behalf of its over 7,600 farmer members.
