25 Competitors Cut To Five In Entrepreneurial Contest For $5000 Prize

Emotional Feb. 3 meeting leaves 25 contestants competing for five spots in struggle to win.

DES MOINES, Iowa, Feb. 17, 2014 – Stage two of “My People App-rentice: Des Moines”, sponsored by My People App, will reach semi-final stage three with theatrical flair on Monday, Feb. 24 as the fate of the 25 remaining contestants will be revealed in dramatic board room fashion in front of their peers at an event from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 24 at Okoboji Grill at 8481 Birchwood Court in Johnston, Iowa.

“My People App-rentice: Des Moines”, hosted by celebrity personality and radio host, Tana Goertz, features tasks requiring sales and marketing creativity and will continue for three more weeks culminating in a celebration Sunday, Mar. 9 recognizing the grand prize winner in front of all 50 original contestants, My People App staff and invited guests.

An emotional Feb. 3 event concluded stage two following the official launch of the competition in mid January. At the Jan. 13 launch 50 contestants were introduced to the competition and its sponsor, My People App , a new mobile social business network that plays a key role in the competition and is designed to empower and connect businesses and consumers.

The first task given contestants was simply to download the app as a user, create their own My People App Premium Portal within the app, then to earn as many user connections to their own Portal as possible. Contestant Brandon Adams lead the field after stage one with several hundred connections by the deadline, and was rewarded with a live radio appearance Thursday, Feb. 6 on Goertz’ new “Hey Tana! Time” radio show, also sponsored by My People App, airing every Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. on KXNO 1460 AM. After the Feb. 3 event, Adams disclosed, “I’ve recently left my job to pursue success for my invention, ArcticStick, full time. I can now focus. My People App fits right in with this plan. The competition itself is getting my name out there. Winning it will help make my dream come true.”

Contestant Emily Vetter, senior at Grand View University in Des Moines, explained, “The first task helped me gain confidence in myself and see that I could do it. I accomplished more than I thought I could. I’m going to work hard on selling My People App around Des Moines. Seeing My People App get thousands of users in just a few weeks is impressive.”

Stage two will be won by the contestant earning the most points by midnight on Friday, Feb. 21. Contestants earn points in three ways. First, they will earn 100 points for each My People App Premium Portal sold. Second, contestants earn one point for every valid email invitation sent by a business asking customers to connect with that business through My People App. Third, contestants earn one point for every view of an original video posted on YouTube featuring My People App. Contestants continue to use My People App and Goertz’ own celebrity status to win publicity as they compete for their choice of a grand prize awarded Sunday, Mar. 9: a $5,000 vacation to any location in the world, a year long lease on a Mercedes Benz or BMW, or a home office outfitted with Apple products.

My People App is available to download and use for free from the iTunes App Store and Google Play and is being launched in both India and the United States at this time. Those interested in finding contest updates can follow the “My People App-rentice: Des Moines” Facebook page.
