FIVE IOWANS MAKING HEALTHY LIFESTYLE CHANGES, SHARING JOURNEY

Dream Team to meet in West Des Moines Saturday, March 1

AMES, Iowa - February 24, 2014 - Live Healthy Iowa's Dream Team will meet at Fitness World West in West Des Moines on Saturday, March 1 for a mid-challenge meeting. Since January 27, the five Dream Team members have learned how to make healthy lifestyle changes as part of Live Healthy Iowa's 10 Week Wellness Challenge while sharing their experiences via social media. The Dream Team is exemplifying the benefits of living a positive, healthy lifestyle to inspire and motivate others.

The mid-challenge meeting will begin at 11:00 a.m. and Dream Team Captain Shawn Johnson of Johnson's Elite Training will lead the Dream Team through a workout. Dream Team Dietitian Jennifer DeWall of Nutrition in Motion, LLC will lead a nutrition education session. Media outlets are invited to attend the mid-challenge meeting from 11:00 am - 1:30 p.m. at Fitness World West, 3200 Westown Pkwy, West Des Moines.

Each Dream Team member represents the average Iowan; a diverse group of individuals with varying lifestyles wanting to improve their health. Joe Calvert of Des Moines is a U.S. Marine wanting to ensure a long life to watch his kids and future grandkids grow up. Larry Toothman of Cedar Rapids has dropped 90 pounds and is no longer insulin dependent. He wants to reach his ultimate weight loss goal, increase his fitness level and share his story. Robin Norfleet of West Branch wants to start running again so she can join her three sons in a 5K next spring. Shawnna Stiver of Des Moines wants to be a voice for women and encourage women to draw inspiration from her journey toward accepting their bodies and a healthy lifestyle. Stacey Snyder of Tripoli is a principal who wants to be a healthy role model for her elementary students and learn to cook healthy meals for her active family.

The 10 Week Wellness Challenge kicked off on January 27th and encourages Iowans to team up and commit to making healthy lifestyle choices. Not yet registered? There's still time! Registration closes Friday, February 28. Visit www.livehealthyiowa.org for more information.
