Board Room Drama Leaves Final Five In Charity Fundraising Sprint To Finish

Five "fierce competitors" remain as contest enters final phase raising funds for local charities.

DES MOINES, Iowa, Mar. 3, 2014 - Five out of 50 original competitors remain in contention for the $5,000 prize awarded to the winner of "My People App-rentice: Des Moines", sponsored by My People App. The contest reached its third and final stage on Monday, Feb. 24 as the 25 remaining challengers were cut to five at Okoboji Grill in Johnston, Iowa. Finalists at the event were immediately introduced to staff and volunteers from a variety of Iowa charities and are holding fundraising events this week in one final push ending Saturday, Mar. 8 at 9:00 p.m. to see who will have earned their choice of a grand prize and the title of "My People App-rentice". The individual who raises the most money for their cause by Saturday's 9:00 p.m. deadline will be declared the winner and will have earned their choice of a grand prize: a $5,000 vacation to any location in the world, a year long lease on a Mercedes Benz or BMW automobile, or a home office outfitted with Apple products. The winner will be named and funds raised for each charity will be announced at a celebration this Sunday, Mar. 9 beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Okoboji Grill at 8481 Birchwood Court in Johnston, Iowa in the presence of all 50 original contestants.

Finalists and their affiliated charities are as follows: Brandon Adams, Endure Iowa; Matt Kaldenberg, Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Iowa; Allie Marten, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Iowa Chapter; Jim Weaver, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Iowa Chapter and Justin Williams, Best Buddies(r) Iowa.

"This competition has exceeded our expectations," said My People App CEO, Paul N. Greenwood. "The five contestants that remain are truly fierce competitors and winners in their own right. By using our app in their efforts to win contestants are helping us to improve our game and to serve our mission. The final stage of 'My People App-rentice: Des Moines' will introduce our brand to Iowa in a very special way as contestants fan out across the metro raising funds for charity. We could not be more excited, and we expect to see great things happening this week."

"My People App-rentice: Des Moines", hosted by KXNO-AM 1460 radio personality Tana Goertz, has featured tasks requiring sales, marketing and promotional creativity. 50 contestants were introduced to the competition and its sponsor, My People App, on Jan. 13. The first task given contestants was simply to download the app as a user, create a personalized My People App Premium Portal within the app, then to earn as many user connections to their own Portal as possible. Contestant Brandon Adams led the field after stage one with several hundred connections by Feb. 1. Stage two was won by the five competitors earning the most points by midnight Feb. 21 through sales of My People App Premium Portals, email marketing efforts or views of promotional videos. Once again the contestant at the top of the heap was Brandon Adams. Stage three began immediately Feb. 24 at Okoboji Grill as contestants met their charity representatives for the first time and began to develop a strategy for raising funds through the 9:00 p.m., Saturday, Mar. 8 deadline. Fundraising events are being posted on the "My People App-rentice: Des Moines" Facebook page at and affiliated social media outlets as details are confirmed and received from contestants.

My People App is available now to download and use for free from the iTunes App Store and Google Play and is being launched in both India and the United States at this time. Charity fundraising events and contest updates will be posted on the "My People App-rentice: Des Moines" Facebook page at
