Silos & Smokestacks Hosts 10th Annual Golden Silo Awards

Northeast Iowa - Silos & Smokestacks National Heritage Area (SSNHA) will be holding their 10th Annual Golden Silo Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, April 2, from 12:00-1:30 p.m. in the Black's Building Sky Room, Waterloo, IA. Each year, SSNHA celebrates the best in heritage development by presenting Golden Silo Awards to individuals and organizations whose contributions demonstrate outstanding excellence in preserving and telling America's agricultural story.

"The story of American agriculture is a significant part of our country's heritage. For the tenth year in a row, we're very excited to honor those who excel in sharing the agricultural experience with visitors," commented Don Short, SSNHA President.

This year's event will feature Laurie Johns of the Iowa Farm Bureau. Join us as she shares the latest insight into today's research and her unique experience, earned after 25 years as an Emmy-winning TV and radio news anchor and reporter. Laurie's story of farming began in Wright County, growing up on a Century hog and grain farm. Find out how she helps today's diverse Iowa farmers share their perspectives across Iowa, the nation and the globe, one interview, one 'Tweet' and one photo at a time.

The event is $25 per person, with reservations due by March 26. The luncheon will feature an Iowa pork inspired meal. For more information or to register, visit www.silosandsmokestacks.org or call 319-234-4567. Thank you to Iowa Farm Bureau Federation and Iowa Pork Producers Association for supporting this year's awards luncheon.
