2014 Crop Fair Offers Management Information
JOHNSTON, Iowa - March 5, 2014 - This winter's "Tools for Your Future" Crop Fair has a program designed to help local growers deal with the volatility in modern agriculture, according to organizers with the Iowa Corn Growers Association (ICGA) and Iowa Corn Promotion Board (ICPB). The program will be held March 20, 2014 at Iowa Speedway - Newton Club, 3333 Rusty Wallace Drive, Newton, Iowa. Registration begins at 9:00 AM and the program runs from 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM with complimentary lunch served at noon.
Featured presentations include: "ICGA Update" by Carrie Dodds, District Field Manager at Iowa Corn, "Busting Soybean Yield Barriers Without Breaking the Bank" by Ryan Van Roekel at University of Arkansas, "The Changing of the Guard - Market Outlook" by Darin Newsom, Senior Analyst at DTN and "Legislative Update" by Mindy Larsen Poldberg, Government Relations Director at Iowa Corn.
"With today's market volatility and weather challenges, it is important to have up-to-date information," says Carrie Dodds, ICGA/ICPB district field manager. "The crop fair program should give local growers access to information that can really help their bottom line."

The ICGA and ICPB work with local sponsors each winter to provide crop fairs across the state. The programs are intended to give producers free and direct access to timely information on issues facing Iowa agriculture. The ICPB directs the investment of Iowa corn checkoff funds to develop and defend markets, fund research, and provide education about corn and corn products. The ICGA is a membership organization, lobbying on agricultural issues on behalf of its over 7,600 farmer members.
