2014 Crop Fair Offers Management Information
JOHNSTON, Iowa - March 12, 2014 - This winter's Estherville Crop Fair has a program designed to help local growers deal with the volatility in modern agriculture, according to organizers with the Iowa Corn Growers Association (ICGA) and Iowa Corn Promotion Board (ICPB). The program will be held March 25, 2014 at VFW Hall, 314 S 1st Street, Estherville, Iowa. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with free coffee and donuts and the program runs from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. with complimentary lunch served at 12 p.m.
Featured presentations include: "Top Ten Mistakes in Farm Estate & Transition Planning" by Melissa O'Rourke, Farm and Agribusiness Management Specialist; "Farm Bill Update & 2014 Market Outlook" by Melissa O'Rourke, Farm and Agribusiness Management Specialist, "It's All Down Hill from Here" by Craig Struve, Midwest Independent Soil Samplers.
"With today's market volatility and weather challenges, it is important to have up-to-date information," says Brian Peterson, ICGA/ICPB district field manager. "The crop fair program should give local growers access to information that can really help their bottom line."
Sponsors of the crop fair include: Emmet County ISU Extension, Bank Plus, Iowa Corn Growers Association and Iowa Corn Promotion Board.

The ICGA and ICPB work with local sponsors each winter to provide crop fairs across the state. The programs are intended to give producers free and direct access to timely information on issues facing Iowa agriculture. The ICPB directs the investment of Iowa corn checkoff funds to develop and defend markets, fund research, and provide education about corn and corn products. The ICGA is a membership organization, lobbying on agricultural issues on behalf of its over 7,600 farmer members.
