Iowa Donor Network Celebrates National Donate Life Month this April
North Liberty, March 28, 2014 - Donate Life month is a state-wide collaboration with hospitals, Fire/Law/EMS services, funeral homes, medical examiners, donor families and recipients to educate Iowans and about donation and encourage everyone to register as a donor. Numerous events are planned throughout the state, including a kick-off celebration at Blank Children's Hospital in Des Moines on April 1st, featuring NASCAR Nationwide driver Joey Gase and the recipient of his mother's kidney.

"Iowa ranks near the top as far as percentage of registered donors." says Iowa Donor Network CEO, Suzanne Conrad. "This is largely due to the giving nature of Iowans and their desire to save lives. "
There are now 110 million registered donors in the United States, with 1.8 million registered donors in Iowa. Still, the number of people in need of transplants continues to rise. The solution to this problem is to continue educating the public about the lifesaving effects of donation and transplantation and get them to make their decision known by signing up through their state donor registry.
