Local student Ethen nominated for Saint Mary's University's Outstanding Senior Award

WINONA, Minn. - Saint Mary's University computer science major Dylan Ethen, son of Todd and Lucinda Ethen of White Bear Lake, Minn., was nominated for the university's Outstanding Senior Male Award.

For the past 47 years, Saint Mary's has honored a male and a female senior who have demonstrated the ideals of scholarship, character, leadership, service to colleagues and the university community, as well as genuine concern for the needs of others.

Ethen has demonstrated these qualities through his involvements including the Delta Epsilon Sigma National Honor Society and Delta Mu Delta - Beta Chapter National Business Honor Society. He has participated in the Mathematics and Computer Science Club, Ping Pong Club, and finance committee. In addition, he has participated in a Serving Others United in Love (S.O.U.L.) mission trip, multiple Together Encountering Christ (TEC) retreats, and other retreats and service opportunities. He played on the tennis team, MUTS Ultimate Frisbee team, and SMU Kidz paintball team, and he competed in various intramurals. Ethen also served as a resident assistant in LaSalle Hall, Gilmore Creek Hall, and Saint Benilde Hall. After graduation, he will pursue a job in computer science in the Twin Cities, and he eventually plans to earn his master's degree in the field.

The Outstanding Senior Male and Female Awards were presented during the university's Founder's Day April 1 to Miles Dunna, son of Wokie Dunna of Saint Paul, Minn., and Amy Spitzmueller, daughter of Kathy and Bill Spitzmueller of New Brighton, Minn.
