Local student Traxler nominated for Saint Mary's University's Outstanding Senior Award

WINONA, Minn. - Saint Mary's University biology major Matthew Traxler, son of Tim and Jeanne Traxler of LeCenter, Minn., was nominated for the university's Outstanding Senior Male Award.

For the past 47 years, Saint Mary's has honored a male and a female senior who have demonstrated the ideals of scholarship, character, leadership, service to colleagues and the university community, as well as genuine concern for the needs of others.

Traxler has demonstrated these qualities through his involvements including Delta Epsilon Sigma National Honor Society and Beta Beta Beta National Biological Honor Society. He serves as president of the Student Activities Committee and is on the executive board of the Biology Club and Student Senate. He is a New Student Orientation leader, Student Ambassador, and Cardinals Calling Crew supervisor. He has also competed in intramural sports. He has participated in Serving Others United in Love (S.O.U.L.) Council activities and trips and has co-led a Together Encountering Christ (TEC) retreat. Additionally, Traxler serves as a tutor in biology. After graduation, he plans to attend medical school.

The Outstanding Senior Male and Female Awards were presented during the university's Founder's Day April 1 to Miles Dunna, son of Wokie Dunna of Saint Paul, Minn., and Amy Spitzmueller, daughter of Kathy and Bill Spitzmueller of New Brighton, Minn.
