Trees Forever offers Trails Enhancement Workshop April 30 in Cherokee

Learn what resources are available for Northwest Iowa

Cherokee, Iowa (April 9, 2014) - Trail enthusiasts and community leaders looking to enhance and improve their community through trails are invited to attend an upcoming workshop planned for northwest Iowa.

The workshop will be hosted by Trees Forever on Wednesday, April 30, from 6:00 - 9:00 P.M. at the Cherokee Yacht Club, 530 W Bluff St. in Cherokee, Iowa. The Cherokee Trails Committee and Cherokee ISU Extension are partnering with Trees Forever on the workshop.

The interactive community workshop, "Happier Trails Ahead: Planning & Planting New Trail Enhancements", will offer the opportunity to share ideas, successes and challenges, ask questions, and learn how other communities have successfully improved their trails. Trees Forever staff will discuss the many benefits of trail enhancements and share additional resources available.

With the popularity of trails on the rise, many communities are looking for ways to enhance their existing trails with an eye towards increasing tourism and economic development. Many also recognize the valuable role that trails play in improving public health and well-being.

There is no cost to attend the trail enhancements workshop, but pre-registration is required. Please RSVP by April 28 to Carl Barnhart at (800) 369-1269 extension 112, or register online at www.treesforever.org/events. A light meal will be served.
