Annual Award Recognizes Alabamian Who Makes a Powerful Difference in their Community

Montgomery, AL -- AARP Alabama is now accepting nominations for its 2014 Alabama Andrus Award for Community Service, which honors 50+ Alabamians who are sharing their experience, talent, and skills to enrich the lives of their state and communities.

"Volunteers give so much of themselves to others, and we believe it's important to show our appreciation and gratitude for the important work they do every day in our Alabama communities," said Candi Williams, Interim State Director.

Nominations will be evaluated by AARP Alabama based on how the volunteer's work has improved the community, supported AARP's vision and mission, and inspired other volunteers. Nominees do not have to be AARP members. The award recipient will be announced in early fall.
