Iowa Bankers Association Helps Repair Historic Bank Building at Living History Farms

JOHNSTON, IA (Aug. 20, 2014) - On August 19, the Iowa Bankers Association (IBA) Marketing Committee, representing banks from across the state of Iowa, presented a $2,000 check to Living History Farms to help with repairs and maintenance of a historical bank building, Walnut Hill Bank. Walnut Hill Bank has been a landmark in the 1875 town of Walnut Hill since the Farms' founding in 1970.

"We are excited to take part in the preservation of Living History Farms - and to help support the work they do to share Iowa's significant agricultural and rural history. Iowa banks also have a long history serving the same agricultural and rural communities that Living History Farms so well represents," said Lori Ristau, vice president of marketing and communications for the Iowa Banker Association.

Living History Farms represents 300 years of history, exhibiting the significance of agriculture in the development of America. The attraction educates Iowans through interactive models of historical and modern farming with the overarching goal of helping the community understand Iowa values. Those values of honesty, hard work and community service match Iowa banks' own values and made Living History Farms a natural organization to support.
