North Central Door Company Accelerates Growth by Uniting With Family-Owned Garaga
BEMIDJI, MN (September 13, 2022) – North Central Door will now become part of the Garaga Group, a solid family business celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2023. With 4 manufacturing locations, 2 in the US (Oklahoma and Minnesota) and 2 in Canada, Garaga is positioning itself as an important player to maintain its competitive growth in North America.
“Garaga and North Central Door share the same core values such as safety, continuous improvement, accountability and teamwork, making them the partner of choice for our continued growth”, says Steve Palmer co-owner and president of North Central Door Company.
“Garaga is very familiar with the garage door market in the United States, having acquired a first plant in Oklahoma in 2018, which has seen a 35% increase in employees since that time. All employees at North Central Door will keep their jobs. As well, Garaga will retain the management team there which will remain under the leadership of Steve Palmer, who has been with the company since 2015 and who will remain a shareholder of the business” says Maxime Gendreau, co-president of Garaga.
Coexisting and complementary product lines
All jobs at the Ponca City, Oklahoma plant will be retained. Garaga Mid-America will maintain its entire product offering. The two American plants offer complementary products in non-insulated and polystyrene insulated garage doors that can coexist very well together. Garaga’s Canadian plants are specialized in polyurethane insulated garage doors.

Garaga stands out in Ponca City
Garaga Inc. was founded by Michel Gendreau in 1983, and now his sons, Martin and Maxime, are co-presidents of the company. With strong momentum, Garaga received the prestigious “Industry of the Year” award last spring from the Ponca City Chamber of Commerce. This coming year, 2023, will be just as special as the company will celebrate its 40th anniversary.
