BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. (June 29, 2026) – On Saturday, September 12, 2026, Centennial Park will transform into the center of African heritage as the Minnesota African Cultural Festival returns for a splendid, day-long celebration of unity, culture, and economic empowerment.
Hosted by One Tikar One People, this massive, free public event will run from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., bringing together families, artists, talent groups and entrepreneurs to showcase the brilliance of 50+ African nations.
“This festival is a declaration of unity and a living bridge to our roots,” said festival organizers. “We are inviting the entire community to experience the richness, power, and beauty of African culture firsthand.”
2026 Festival Highlights:
- Over 150 local businesses and community organizations showcasing innovation and artisan craft.
- A stunning, high-fashion runway showcase by African Fashion Week MN, highlighting the intersection of tradition and modern couture.
- Vibrant Children & Youth Villages designed to engage the next generation with interactive cultural education and entertainment.
- A feast of free BBQ and authentic food & flavors from across the continent.
- Dynamic talent shows featuring youth cultural groups and artists presenting on the main stage.
- Non-stop live performances featuring traditional music, master drummers, and cultural dance groups.
- On-site DNA testing resources for diaspora members looking to reconnect with their royal bloodlines.
