LEWISBURG, Pa. (December 18, 2025) – When Laura Posh ’27, of Morgantown, Pa., was exploring colleges, she knew she wanted a place where she could blend her creative side with her interest in business. Bucknell’s Freeman College of Management and its markets, innovation & design (MIDE) major turned out to be the perfect fit.
“I’ve always loved to draw and paint,” Posh says. “But I was also really interested in business and marketing. The MIDE major seemed like a great way to bring those two worlds together.”
That mix of creativity and strategy has defined her Bucknell experience. In Design Realization, a MIDE course taught by Professor Gabriella Diego, Posh brought her artistic side to life through a design challenge that took students from initial brainstorming to prototyping a physical product.
Her idea was to create a “rescue dog” beach toy designed to spark imagination and pretend play among young children. “We had to create everything — from sketches to a physical scale model,” she says. “It was so hands-on and required problem-solving and design thinking.”
She had already begun applying those skills during a summer internship with Novolex, a packaging products company. As a talent acquisition intern, Posh took the lead on branding projects, including managing the company’s presence on Handshake — the same platform Bucknell’s Center for Career Advancement uses, and the one that connected her to the internship.
“At first, I thought I’d be helping with recruiting,” she says. “But my manager encouraged me to take a creative approach and focus on branding. I got to apply what I learned in my marketing and consumer behavior courses — thinking about audiences, messaging, and how to tell a company’s story.”
Her MIDE coursework, she adds, helped her see the connection between brand identity and community, lessons she put into practice throughout the summer.
When she’s not in the classroom, you’ll often find Posh on the roads around Lewisburg. She’s a member of Bucknell’s cross-country and track & field teams, experiences that have played a key role in her college life.
“Running keeps me grounded,” she says. “It gives my day structure and helps with time management. It’s also a mental break from academics, and the team here is such a wonderful community.”
Looking ahead, Posh hopes to continue combining creativity, design, and strategy — possibly in the world of brand marketing for an athletic apparel company.
“My internship really showed me how much I love branding,” she says. “I’d love to work for an athletic brand that allows me to connect my creative side, my MIDE degree, and my passion for running.”
